Anchorage Correctional Complex

Inmates housed at Anchorage Correctional Complex are able to do a variety of self help programs.  Depending on the building the inmate is in they may have access to alcoholics anonymous, anger management courses, and educational programs.  Some of the educational programs include basic education, which is learning skills that are below a high school education, and also GED programs which covers high school education and diplomas.  Inmates can also take advantage of many computer courses and resume writing classes that will teach an inmate the basics they need to know in order to obtain a job upon being released.

When an inmate first arrives at Anchorage Correctional Complex they will be searched and cuffed and moved to the booking office.  The inmate should ensure they have no personal property with them, but are encouraged to bring a small amount of cash to place on their commissary.  They will be drug tested and administered a breathalyzer.  A medical questionnaire will be given to the inmate and then they will be fingerprinted and their inmate photo will be taken.  Next you will be escorted to a room to be strip searched and issued your prison uniform, as well as given your housing location.  Once the inmate has completed the entire booking process and is in their assigned housing area they will be able to make a collect phone call.

Visiting Hours at Anchorage Correctional Complex:

There are two facilities located at Anchorage Correctional Complex.  Inmates at each facility are allowed to have a single one hour visit each day, and a maximum of three visitors at a time.

Anchorage East facility has visitation everyday at 9am, 10am, 1pm, 2pm, 6:30pm and 7:30pm.  Visitors will not be admitted to visitation if they show up during the last 30 minutes of any visitation slot, you can however sign in for visitation up to an hour before the slot starts.

Anchorage West facility has slightly different visitation times.  On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday inmates have visiting hours at 9am, 10am, 1pm, 2pm, 7pm, and 8pm.  On Thursday there is only visiting at 1pm and 2pm.  Saturday and Sunday visitation is held at 8am, 9am, 10am, 1pm, 2p, 7pm, and 8pm.
