William R. Boyd Unit

Boyd Unit is a mixed custody prison located in Freestone County Texas.  It houses approximately 1,372 male inmates who range from level one and two general population to level 4 general population and safekeeping.  Offenders who are level four are housed in cells.  Inmates designated as level one and two provide a variety of support services to the institution including working in facility maintenance, and landscaping.

All offenders at Boyd Unit can participate in adult basic education, literacy, and GED courses.  Additional vocational classes are provided in carpentry, maintenance, construction, landscaping, and automotive transmission repair.  Inmates who suffer from drug and alcohol addiction are provided substance abuse treatment and support groups.  Additional activities for inmates include life skills courses and various religious worship services and studies.

Visiting Hours for Boyd Unit:

Inmates incarcerated at Boyd Unit in Texas have visitation on Saturdays and Sundays from 8am-5pm.  Visits can be both contact or non-contact (separated by a glass partition) depending if you are a family member or not.  In order to visit the inmate must have added you to their visitation list, contact the inmate to ensure you are on their visitors list.
