Dolph Briscoe Unit

Briscoe Unit is a prison located in Dilley Texas that houses approximately 1,384 adult male offenders.  This facility houses a mix of custody levels ranging from G1 minimum custody to G4 medium offenders who must live in a cell and are closely supervised.  Inmates at Briscoe Unit can work at the prison providing support service in maintenance and growing/cultivating edible crops.  Additionally, some inmates may be selected to participate in various community projects including habitat for humanity.

Inmates at Briscoe Unit are strongly encouraged to participate in educational opportunities available at the facility.  These include learning to read, adult basic education and GED courses.  Offenders can also benefit from technical training in construction, electrical, carpentry, landscaping, and maintenance.  Substance abuse programs and support groups are available to those offenders who suffer from alcohol and drug addiction.  Medical and dental services are available to all inmates.

Visiting Hours at Briscoe Unit:

Offenders at Briscoe Unit are allowed visits on Saturdays and Sundays from 8am-5pm.  Visits are usually two hours in duration.
