Effingham County Correctional Institution

Effingham County Correctional Institution is located in Springfield Georgia.  It is a medium security facility that houses 192 adult males who have been convicted of felonies.  Inmates are housed in open dormitories with about 64 offenders in each, in addition the facility has cells designated for segregation inmates.  Selected inmates can participate in work details which enable the inmates to work in various supervised roles outside of the institution.  Some of the work details include cleaning out drainage pipes, cutting grass in mediums, and picking up litter along roadways.

This facility has a work release programs where offenders can work a job during the day and return to the prison at night.  Vocational skills include carpentry, small engine repair, masonry, groundskeepers/landscapers, laundry, culinary services, and welding.  Inmates can also get pre-release counseling, and counseling for substance abuse.
