Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison

Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison is located in Jackson Georgia, part of Butts county.  It has a security level of closed custody/death row, and can hold 2487 adult male inmates.  This facility is responsible for the classification and diagnostic processing of many offenders, it is also responsible for housing offenders who have been sentenced to death.  Executions are carried out at this facility and sex offenders who have been rehabilitated are released and processed out at this institution.

Education opportunities at this facility include adult basic education, reading courses and the ability for inmates to earn a GED.  Individual and group therapies are available to inmates, work details include working in a fire station, waste water and power station, and maintenance.  Religious studies and worship services are made available through the chaplains office.

Visiting Hours at Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison:

Visiting for Diagnostic inmates are on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9am-11am and again at 2pm-4pm.  Inmates may only have visits if they have been detained at Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison for over 60 days.  Only immediate family members and professional visits are allowed.

UDS (Death Row), SMU, General Population and all other inmates have visiting on Saturdays, Sundays and State Holidays from 9am-3pm.
