Ellen Halbert Unit
The Ellen Halbert Unit is a female substance abuse treatment and in-prison therapeutic community facility located in Burnet Texas. Halbert Unit has the capacity to house 612 female offenders. Programs at this facility are focused on drug and alcohol rehabilitation, as Halbert Unit is classified as a Substance Abuse Felony Punishment Facility. Female inmates who are habitual DWI offenders will be sent here to undergo the recovery program. Support groups such as Narcotics and Alcoholics Anonymous are made available to inmates incarcerated here.
Select inmates will be chosen to provide maintenance and janitorial duties within the facility, while other offenders may be selected to work in supervised positions providing labor for surrounding county ang local government agencies. Additionally, inmates offer labor support for the Texas parks and Wildlife service maintaining trails, and performing various landscape and cleanup activities. Educational opportunities at Halbert Unit are limited, however offenders can participate in parenting classes, religious studies, and receive pre-employment and job readiness training.
Visiting Hours for Halbert Unit:
The Ellen Halbert Unit in Texas holds two hour visitation periods on Saturdays and Sundays from 8am to 5pm. All visitors must be on the inmate's approved visitation list before they can visit. Your relationship to the inmate as well as the inmate's internal classification will determine if the visit is contact or non-contact. Offenders are allowed one visit per weekend.
