Hightower Unit
Hightower Unit is a mixed custody prison co-located with two other facilities (Henley State Jail and Plane Unit) in Dayton Texas. The prison houses up to 1,384 male offenders of G1, G2, and G4 security status (minimum to medium-high). This facility runs a garment operation that employs inmates in the manufacturing of garments, some of which are the uniforms worn by prison officials. Offenders can also work filling various supportive positions within the prison performing tasks in laundry, maintenance and custodial work. This facility has a substance abuse program and a sex offender treatment program.
Offenders at Hightower Unit can participate in vocational training that includes small engine repair and carpentry. Literacy, adult basic education, and GED classes are also provided to offenders. Inmates have access to religious worship services and studies, faith based dorms and various Chaplain services. Hightower Unit has a facility garden and allows select offenders to work in supervised roles giving lectures at local school districts about the dangers of drugs, alcohol and poor life choices.
Visiting Hours for Hightower Unit:
Inmates located at Hightower Unit have visitation on Saturdays and Sundays from 8am to 5pm. Visits are up to two hours long. Visitors are allowed to bring a clear Ziploc bag with up to twenty dollars in quarters to use in the visiting room vending machines.
