Kentucky Correctional Institution for Women
Kentucky Correctional Institution for Women is located in Pewee Valley Kentucky, part of Shelby County. Female inmates from all over the state and of all custody levels are incarcerated at this prison. Inmates can be housed in single or double bunks depending on their security level. This facility is responsible for female death row inmates, lifers, as well as inmates who are only serving one year. Currently, this facility can hold approximately 683 offenders.
Programs at Kentucky Correctional Institution for Women include self help groups like Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous, sex offender treatment, emotional therapies, and academic opportunities. Educational courses include literacy classes, and the ability for inmates to earn a GED. Re-entry classes are offered for inmates who are preparing to be released, helping them through role simulation and resume preparation.
Visiting Hours at Kentucky Correctional Institution for Women:
Normal visitation occurs on Saturdays, Sundays, and designated holidays from 8:30am-3pm. Processing for visitation stops at 2:30pm so you must arrive before this. Visits can be up to two hours in duration. Bonding visits for children up to age three can be scheduled through the bonding coordinator Monday through Friday from 8am-4pm. Visitors may bring up to $40 in singles to use in the vending machines during visitation. If you are visiting with a baby you can bring up to three disposable diapers, a single small package of wipes, two clear plastic bottles, a single pacifier, and a single blanket.
