Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility

Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility is located in Pawnee County Kansas.  This prison specializes in mental health treatment of offenders and houses maximum to minimum security inmates who suffer from severe and persistent mental illness.  All offenders at this institution are adult males, currently it can house approximately 430 inmates.  Inmates at this facility were often assigned to be here by mental health staff who performed an examination at another facility.  Inmates with mental health disorders often require a different approach to incarceration, and are considered a high risk when housed at a typical institution.

Inmates who are in the minimum custody West Unit can participate in work programs that help the offender acquire healthy work skills and habits.  A full time chaplain is also available to inmate, and reentry programs help prepare offenders for their inevitable release.

Visiting Hours at Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility:

Visiting is on Saturdays and Sundays from 8:30am-3pm.  You must arrive and be processed by 2pm or you will not be allowed to visit.  Inmates are also allowed visitation on holidays including Memorial Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.  To learn more about visiting Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility read the visiting handbook.
