SCI Laurel Highlands

Laurel Highlands State Correctional Institution is a minimum security prison located in Somerset Pennsylvania.  This facility primarily houses inmates who have special needs including long term personal medical care, inmates who are on dialysis or bound to a wheelchair, and geriatric offenders.  This facility also houses general population inmates.  Currently SCI Laurel Highlands houses approximately 1,550 adult male inmates in nine housing units.  Some of the housing units at SCI Laurel Highlands are open dormitory while others are multi and single occupancy cells.  This facility offers a higher amount of medical care when compared to other correctional facilities in the state.

Inmates at Laurel Highlands State Correctional Institution are provided vocational training in custodial maintenance, business, and electronics repair.  Additionally, inmates who do not possess a diploma can earn a GED during their incarceration.  Offenders can also participate in substance abuse treatment, mental health treatment, sex offender treatment, violence prevention and various other courses aimed at changing negative behavioral patterns.

Visiting Hours at Laurel Highlands State Correctional Institution:

Visitation at SCI Laurel Highlands is conducted on Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 8:30am-3:30pm.  Count time is at 11am, no visitors will be admitted into visitation from 10:30am until the count is completed.
