Mountain View Correctional Institution

Mountain View Correctional Institution is located in Spruce Pine North Carolina. It is a medium security correctional facility that houses 884 adult male offenders. At one time Mountain View Correctional Institution was a privately run facility. Today the North Carolina Department of Corrections has assumed ownership and control of the facility. Offenders are secured in single cells, surrounded by a razor wire fence with electronic detection system.

Inmates at Mountain View Correctional Institution can work supportive jobs within the institution including custodial work, kitchen and food preparation, and laundry. Furthermore, inmates who do not posses a high school diploma may take courses to earn a GED. Basic medical and dental care is available to all inmates, and mental health treatment/substance abuse treatment is also available.

Visiting Hours at Mountain View Correctional Institution:

Visitation occurs on Saturdays and Sundays is based on the first letter of the inmate's last name, and rotates every 4 months. Visiting for general population inmates is as follows:

January, February, March, April
- Inmates A-G have visits on Saturdays from 1pm-3pm
- Inmates H-M have visits on Sundays from 8am-10am
- Inmates N-Z have visits on Sundays from 8am-10am
May, June, July, August
- Inmates A-G have visits on Sundays from 1pm-3pm
- Inmates H-M have visits on Saturdays from 1pm-3pm
- Inmates N-Z have visits on Sundays from 8am-10am
September, October, November, December
- Inmates A-G have visits on Sundays from 8am-10am
- Inmates H-M have visits on Sundays 1pm-3pm
- Inmates N-Z have visits on Saturdays 1pm-3pm
