Pender Correctional Institution

Pender Correctional Institution is a medium security prison located in Burgaw North Carolina.  This correctional facility can house 740 adult male offenders.  Pender Correctional Institution is comprised of six dormitories, an administrative/disciplinary segregation unit, cafeteria, chapel, and various education and administration buildings.  This facility participates in the Correctional Enterprise program allowing inmates to work manufacturing uniforms.  Other jobs available for inmates at this prison include road crews, facility maintenance, custodial work, and food services.

Pender Correctional Institution offers vocational training in landscaping/horticulture, various construction trades, and diesel engine repair.  Additional academic programs allow an inmate to obtain an adult basic education and earn a GED.  Substance and alcohol abuse treatment as well as other positive behavioral development courses are available to inmates.

Visiting Hours at Pender Correctional Institution:

Visiting at Pender Correctional Institution is by appointment only.  Schedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance by calling (910)-259-8740 Monday-Thursday from 8am-4pm.  When visiting an inmate you should arrive 15 minutes before the start of your visitation time to get through visitor processing.  The visiting schedule is as follows:
