Sussex I State Prison

Sussex I State Prison is a level 5 facility, which is just below maximum security, and is located in Waverly Virginia.  Inmates at this facility have long sentences, usually life or multiple life sentences.  This facility is located on the same property as Sussex II.  Sussex I State Prison houses 1,125 maximum security inmates, some of which are on death row.  Offenders are secured by multiple razor ribbon fences, and four armed guard towers.  Inmates have access to medical, dental and mental health treatment services, and can receive educational and vocational training during their incarceration.  Re-entry programs are also available to inmates who are nearing their release date.

Visiting Hours at Sussex I State Prison:

Visits at Sussex I State Prison are conducted on Saturdays and Sundays and utilize a rotating schedule, because of this you will need to contact the facility for the current rotation.
