Winfield Correctional Facility

Winfield Correctional Facility is located in Cowley County Kansas.  It is a minimum security prison that houses approximately 554 adult males.  Winfield Correctional Facility has many programs geared towards preparing an inmate for release, including vocational courses through Aramark and educational courses that help inmates earn a GED.  Inmates can also work in community services for many of the surrounding cities.

Wichita Work Release Facility is a satellite unit to the Winfield Correctional Facility.  It is a minimum custody facility that houses adult males who are on a work release status.  This means the offenders can leave the institution during the day to report to a job within the surrounding community, then return at the end of their shift.  This helps prepare the inmate with full time employment and the responsibilities of managing the money they earn.  Inmates in this program are responsible for room and board expenses, and medical/dental treatment.  This is usually one of the final steps before an inmate is released.

Visiting Hours at Winfield Correctional Facility and Wichita Work Release:

Visiting for Winfield Correctional Facility is separated by the inmate's last name and Offender Level.  You cannot enter the facility to visit during the last hour of the visiting times.  You may arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the visit.

• Fridays from 7pm-9pm All Level I inmates and Level II inmates with a last name A-K
• Saturdays from 7am-1pm All Level III inmates and Level II inmates with a last name A-K.
• Sundays from 7am-1pm All Level III inmates and Level II inmates with a last name L-Z.
• Mondays from 7pm-9pm All Level I inmates, All restriction inmates, and Level II inmates L-Z.
• Thursdays are by appointment only and are only for non-contact.
• Holidays are divided into two blocks, 7am-10am are for restriction offenders and Level I inmates, 10:30am-1:30pm for All Level II and III offenders.

Visitation at the Satellite facility, Wichita Work Release is on Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays from 12:30pm-3:30pm.  Holidays include Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day, Memorial Day, and the 4th of July only.
