York Correctional Institution

York Correctional Institution is located in Niantic Connecticut.  It is a level 2-5 facility, meaning it houses inmates from varying custody levels of minimum to maximum security.  The institution has a capacity to house approximately 430 inmates, under 30 of which are pre-trial offenders.  This is the only facility for females in the entire state.

Depending on the custody level of the inmate, they may be able to participate in a variety of programs and work.  Some inmates may qualify to volunteer for the hospice program which provides care to offenders who are dying.  Inmates may also participate in a mommy and me program if they have children, they should speak to their counselors for more information.
