Choice Moore Transfer Facility

Choice Moore Transfer Facility, sometimes referred to as Moore, C. Unit is a minimum security prison located in Bonham Texas, part of Fannin County.  Transfer Facilities like Choice Moore primarily house inmates who have just entered into the Texas Department of Corrections system after they have been convicted of a crime and have left confinement at the Municipal County Jail.  Offenders may remain at a Transfer Facility for up to six months while they wait for their official classification and intake documents to be completed.  During the intake process offenders are given medical, physical, and psychological exams.  It is during this period that inmates will undergo an HIV and Hepatitis test.

Choice Moore Transfer Facility houses a maximum of 1,224 male offenders on approximately 697 acres of land shared with Cole Unit.  Both facilities work in cooperation providing work to inmates in contract farming, a unit garden, and caring for security dogs and horses.  Additionally, some inmates are allowed to work in unit maintenance, an in providing laundry services.  Inmates are provided courses in adult basic education, cognitive intervention, life skills, substance abuse education, parenting classes, pre-release programming, and also have the opportunity to earn a GED during their incarceration.  Select inmates are even allowed to work for a local area food bank, and provide supervised labor for the Texas Department of Transportation and the Texas Division of Parks and Wildlife.

Visiting Hours at Choice Moore Transfer Facility:

Visitation at the Choice Moore Transfer Facility is held on Saturdays and Sundays from 7am to 5pm.  Inmates are allowed only one visit per weekend either Saturday or Sunday.  Visits are normally two hours in duration but may be shorter if the visitation room becomes crowded or if other circumstances arise that force visitation to end prematurely.
