Green Rock Correctional Center

Green Rock Correctional Center is a level 3 prison located in Chatham Virginia.  The facility is comprised of fourteen housing units, a visitation area, gymnasium, kitchen and dining hall, library, segregation unit, medical area, and vocational/academic education classrooms.  Green Rock Correctional Center can house over 1,038 adult male inmates.  The facility is secured by multiple security fences, and over 171 security cameras.  Offenders are housed in multiple occupancy cells.

Green Rock Correctional Center provides counseling that includes anger management, Alcoholics/Narcotics Anonymous, grief and loss classes, parenting courses, thinking for a change, and sex offender awareness and relapse prevention programs.  Vocational training is provided in heating ventilation and air conditioning, computer aided drafting (CAD), electrical wiring, custodial maintenance, and surveying.  An additional program called "The Bandit Adoption and Rescue of K-9's" (Bark for short) allows inmates to work with dogs, teaching them obedience training.  

Green Rock Correctional Center runs an agriculture operation that employs offenders in raising cattle, llamas, and goats on a fifty acre farm.  The inmates also farm potatoes, squash, cabbage and corn which are harvested and consumed by the inmates.

Visiting Hours at Green Rock Correctional Center:

Visitation occurs on the weekends at Green Rock Correctional.  The exact day and time of the visits rotates weekly, you will need to contact the facility for the current visiting schedule rotation which is based either on the inmate's last name or unit.
