Loretto Federal Correctional Institution

Loretto Federal Correctional Institution is a low security prison with a local minimum security satellite camp. The facility is located in Loretto of Cambria County, Pennsylvania. The institution holds male offenders only. Currently the FCI holds 887 prisoners while the Camp currently holds 95 prisoners. Loretto Federal Correctional Institution holds a total of 982 inmates currently, between the FCI and the Camp. Although currently 982 offenders are incarcerated here, the prison was originally designed to have a maximum capacity of only 784. The FCI has 3 general housing units and a Special Housing Unit. The Special Housing Unit consists of 24 cells. The satellite camp has dormitory style housing. The whole prison is located on a 134 are lot, where 27 of these acres are secured by the perimeter fence.

Loretto Federal Correctional Institution offers a variety of educational programs to its offenders. These programs include Adult Basic Education, General Education Development, English as a Second Language, a non residential drug abuse program, Adult Continuing Education, and a Parenting Program. Previously there was a UNICOR program set up for prisoners to have work opportunity, however, this program has been terminated. The facility also offers mental, dental, medical, health, and social services.

Visiting Hours at Loretto Federal Correctional Institution:

Visiting hours vary depending on if the visit is being made to an inmate in the FCI or the Camp.
Visiting schedule for the FCI:
- Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, Federal Holidays - 8:15 A.M. to 2:15 P.M.
Visiting schedule for the Camp:
- Saturdays, Sundays, Federal Holidays - 8:15 A.M. to 2:15 P.M.
Inmates are granted 8 visiting points each month. Typically 2 points will be deducted for every visit.
An offender can have up to 4 visitors at once, exclusive of children under the age of 16.
All visitors, unless they have a medical reason not to, must pass through a walk through metal detector.
Vending machines are available for visitors. Visitors may bring no more than $20.00 in the facility for the use of the vending machines.
Any visitor who is under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
As the visiting room overcrowds, visitors will be asked to leave. Visitors are asked to leave based on the frequency they visit and how far they travel to visit.
The following items are permitted in the facility:
- Up to $20.00 for vending machines
- A clear plastic purse, no larger than 5" x 8"
- 1 small diaper bag with baby supplies (if infant is present)
The following items are allowed in the diaper bag:
- Necessary amount of diapers
- Pre-mixed formula
- 3 clear baby bottles
- Baby food for length of visit
- Baby wipes, must be in a clear bag
Strollers and baby carriers will NOT be permitted into the facility.
