Ironwood State Prison
Ironwood State Prison is located in Blythe California. It houses over 3,280 male inmates who are medium to minimum custody. Ironwood is comprised of five facilities, four of which house level III medium security inmates. An outdoor level I facility houses minimum security inmates. One of the four level III buildings is used for inmates who are on administrative segregation.
The primary goal of Ironwood State prison is to confine the offenders while also offering educational and vocational skills that will help to reform the inmate. Inmates can be rehabilitated through many of the self-help programs that are available to them, including adult basic education and GED classes, anger management, substance abuse treatment, English Second Language courses and more. Some of the vocational skills offered at this institution include, mechanical drawing, cabinet making, plumbing, welding, electrical, drywall, carpentry, HVAC, auto body and mechanic courses and more.
Visiting Hours at Ironwood State Prison:
If you have filled out a visiting application and have been approved, you may visit an inmate on Saturdays and Sundays from 8:30am-3pm, you must arrive prior to 2:00pm or you will not be admitted to visitation. Scheduled appointments are allowed the first visits, usually the last appointment ends a little before 10am. Once the last scheduled appointment has gone into the facility they will start to take anyone without an appointment. You can schedule a visiting appointment online here.
