Gulf Correctional Institution

Gulf Correctional Institution is located in Wewahitchka Florida, and is part of Gulf county.  It is a level V facility that houses approximately 1,570 adult male offenders.  Inmates at this facility can be minimum, medium and closed custody inmates.  Inmates are encouraged to take advantage of the educational opportunities that exist at this institution, including earning a.basic adult education, obtaining their GED, learning to read, and preparing inmates for employment.

Gulf Correctional Institution has a heating and air conditioning vocational program that teaches inmates a valuable skill they can later use to obtain a job once they are released.  Treatment programs for substance abuse and Alcoholics/Narcotics Anonymous programs help inmates to conquer their addictions.

Visiting Hours at Gulf Correctional Institution:

Visiting is on Saturdays and Sundays from 9am-3pm for visitors who have completed a visitors application and have been approved.  You are allowed to arrive at the institutions parking lot no earlier than 7:30am.  Registration for visitors begins at 8:15am and ends at 2pm.  If you arrive after 2pm you will not be allowed to visit for the day.  All times are in Eastern Standard Time.
