Western Correctional Institution

Western Correctional Institution is located in Cumberland Maryland.  It is a maximum security prison that houses approximately 1,680 adult males.  The average sentence for inmates at this facility is 8.5 years.  Vocational activities offered at Western Correctional Institution include welding, horticulture, cabinetmaking and millwork, maintenance and graphic arts/printing.

Western Correctional Institution also participates in the Maryland Correctional Enterprises, allowing inmates to earn a wage while working to construct various pieces of wooden furniture.  Inmates can also take adult literacy courses and classes to earn a GED.  Substance abuse treatment programs are also available to inmates who require them.

Visiting Hours at Western Correctional Institution:

General Population inmates have visitation on Fridays 8:30am-11:30am (must register by 10:45am) and 12:30pm-2:30pm (must register by 1:45pm) and on Saturdays and Sundays from 8:30am-2:30pm (must register by 1:45pm).
Protective Custody inmates have visitation on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 7pm-9pm (you must register by 8:15pm).
Disciplinary Segregation inmates have visitation on Fridays at 8:30am-11:30am (must register by 10:45am) and 12:30pm-2:30pm (you must register by 1:45pm).
Administrative Segregation is on Fridays from 8:30am-11:30am (registration ends at 10:45am) and 12:30pm-2:30pm (registration ends at 1:45pm.  Administrative segregation visits are also on Saturdays from 8:30am-2:30pm (you must register by 1:45pm).
Visits are one hour in duration and a maximum of five visitors, three of which can be children are allowed to visit.
