Bridgewater State Hospital
Bridgewater State Hospital is located in Plymouth County Massachusetts. It is a medium security institution that houses offenders who have been deemed a danger to themselves or others. Inmates at this institution are admitted due to a court ordered evaluation. Through the evaluations the court can determine if an inmate is competent to stand trial, if the inmate needs further treatment, if the inmate is insane, and can help to determine sentencing.
Inmates who are committed to Bridgewater State Hospital can be there for six months to one year. Offenders committed to the State Hospital can take educational courses to obtain a GED, and adult secondary education. Classes in computer technology and horticulture are also available.
