Montana State Prison

Montana State Prison is located in Deer Lodge Montana.  The prison can house up to 1,495 adult male inmates.  This facility is responsible for six custody levels, minimum I, minimum II, medium I, medium II, maximum and closed custody.  Offenders are housed in one of three compounds depending on their security level.  Inmates are secured by two fences and a large wall with razor wire.

Montana State prison is also responsible for a 192-bed work and re-entry center that houses minimum custody inmates just outside the main perimeter fence.  Inmates in this unit work on a ranch and dairy farm as part of the Montana Correctional Enterprises.

Visiting Hours at Montana State Prison:

Visiting is on Saturdays and Sundays.  Children are only allowed on Saturday visits, Sunday visits are for adult only.  You must arrive for visitation between the hours of 2:15pm and 4:50pm.  LHU-I inmates have visits on Fridays and Sundays from2:30pm-4:30pm.  Inmates are allowed a maximum of five visitors at a time.  A visitor may bring up to $20 in small bills or change to use in the vending machines.
