Mohawk Correctional Facility

Mohawk Correctional Facility is located in Rome New York.  It is a medium security prison that houses adult males.  The current capacity of Mohawk Correctional Facility is 1,184 inmates.  This facility is responsible for a 112 bed maximum security nursing facility known as the Walsh Regional Medical Unit (RMU for short).  The RMU is responsible for treating inmates from surrounding New York Department of Correctional Facilities.

Inmates at Mohawk Correctional Facility can receive vocational training in flooring applications, business, plumbing and heating, small engine repair, painting, horticulture, electrical, building/custodial maintenance, and masonry.  Additionally, offenders will be required to take GED courses if they do not posses a diploma.  Inmates who have a GED or diploma already can earn an Associate's degree through Mohawk Valley Community College.  Inmates who have been convicted of a sex crime will be required to participate in a sex offender counseling and treatment program.  Substance and alcohol abuse treatment is also offered to inmates with addictions.

Visiting Hours at Mohawk Correctional Facility:

Visits occur on Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays from 8:30am-3pm.  Inmates are limited to three visitors per visiting session.
