Oklahoma State Reformatory
Oklahoma State Reformatory is located in Granite Oklahoma. It is a medium security prison that houses 999 male inmates, 799 of the offenders are medium security, 200 are minimum. This facility participates in the Oklahoma Correctional Industries program employing 70 inmates in a garment factory operation. Inmates at this facility can also work on vehicle and equipment maintenance for the Oklahoma Department of Corrections and the departments farming equipment used by inmates at multiple facility. The majority of inmates at Oklahoma State Reformatory are incarcerated for violent crimes. About 13% of the population is incarcerated for first degree murder, making it the top crime for inmates at this facility.
Oklahoma State Reformatory places a large emphasis on education. Inmates can take adult basic education courses, learn to read, obtain a GED, and take college level courses to earn an associates degree during their incarceration. Vocational training for welding is available to inmates who are within six months of discharge, and offenders who become certified graduates of this program are given job placement assistance. Inmates are provided necessary medical, dental and mental health treatment through the deparment.
