SCI Waymart

Waymart State Correctional Institution is a medium security prison that specializes in Psychiatric care and mental health treatment.  It houses approximately 1,425 adult male offenders.  This facility is responsible for the operation of the Forensic Treatment Center (commonly referred to as the FTC).  The Forensic Treatment Center is the headquarters for the treatment of all psychiatric offenders in Pennsylvania.  In addition to mental health care, SCI Waymart also provides medical treatment, alcohol and and substance abuse treatment, and sex offender treatment programs.

Waymart State Correctional Institution participates in the correctional industries program and operates a garment factory that employs 120 offenders who produce many of the staff uniforms for prisons throughout the state, and manufacture rain wear for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.  Offenders at SCI Waymart are housed in open dormitories.

Visiting Hours at Waymart State Correctional Institution:

Visitation at SCI Waymart is conducted on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 12:30pm-4:30pm and on Saturdays, Sundays and state recognized Holidays from 9:30am-4:30pm.  Visitors are allowed to bring a small clear Ziploc bag with a total of $50 in coins or small bills ($1 or $5).  Visitors can use this money to purchase items from the vending machines in the visiting room.
