Jameson Annex

Jameson Annex is a mixed custody facility and part of South Dakota State Penitentiary. It is comprised of four units, three of which, units A, B and D, are located inside the secure perimeter and considered maximum custody. C Unit is a minimum custody housing unit that sits just outside of the perimeter fence. Many of the inmate's in C Unit perform supportive jobs at Jameson Annex including custodial and kitchen work. Jameson Annex is also responsible for the intake and classification of new inmates who are just entering into the South Dakota Department of Corrections. The current capacity of Jameson Annex and C unit stands around 745 inmates. Offenders at Jameson Annex have access to literacy classes, adult basic education and GED courses. Substance abuse treatment, mental health, medical and dental services are all provided to inmate's at this facility.

Visiting Hours at Jameson Annex:

Visitation at Jameson Annex is based on the Unit the inmates is housed in. All Class II visits, which include administrative segregation inmates, disciplinary segregation inmates, mental health inmates, and capital punishment inmates, are by scheduled appointment only. You must call (605)-367-5120 at least 24 hours in advance to schedule a Class II visit. Visiting hours are as follows:

General Population (Units B & D)
- Monday through Friday visitation from 5:20pm-8:30pm
- Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays from 12pm-3:30pm
Minimum Custody (Unit C)
- Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 5:15pm-8:15pm
- Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays from 8am-11am and 1pm-4pm
- C unit inmates are allowed a maximum of three visits each week
Administrative Segregation (Unit A)
- Visits are by appointment only. You can schedule an appointment by calling (605)-367-5120. Inmates are allowed two visits each week and one visit per month on the weekend.
  - 1st period is from 12:30pm-1:40pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
  - 2nd period is from 1:50pm-3pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
  - 3rd period is from 6pm-7pm on Tuesdays.
  - 4th period is from 7:15pm-8:15pm on Tuesdays.
  - Weekend and Holiday visits from 8am-10:30am.
Disciplinary Segregation (Unit A)
- Visits are by scheduled appointment only. You can schedule an appointment by calling (605)-367-5120. Offenders are allowed one visit per week, no visits on weekends or holidays.
  - 1st period is from 6pm-7pm on Mondays through Fridays.
  - 2nd period is from 7:!5pm-8:15pm on Mondays through Fridays.
Mental Health (Unit A)
- Visits are by appointment only which can be made by calling (605)-367-5120. Offenders are allowed one visit per each person on the visiting list per month.
  - Visits occur on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 8am-10:15am.
Capital Punishment Housing (Unit A)
- Visits must be scheduled by calling (605)-367-5120. Inmates are allowed two one hour visits per week. Death row inmates are only allowed visits from immediate family members.
  - 1st period is from 12:30pm-1:40pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
  - 2nd period is from 1:50pm-3pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
  - 3rd period is from 6pm-7pm on Tuesdays.
  - 4th period is from 7:15pm-8:15pm on Tuesdays.
  - Weekend and Holiday visits are from 8am-10:30am.
