Coastal State Prison

Coastal State Prison is located in Garden City Georgia, part of Chatham county.  It is a medium security institution that houses approximately 1836 adult males who have been convicted of a felony.  Inmates are confined in either an open dormitory, a two man cell, or four man cell.  A faith and character based dormitory also houses a select group of inmates, and a segregation unit houses inmates with disciplinary issues or safety concerns.

Selected offenders are allowed to have jobs within the institution that offer a menial pay.  These jobs include working in the warehouse, groundskeepers, maintenance, laundry, library, janitorial, food service, and more.  Academic courses that the inmates can participate in include earning their GED, adult basic education and learning to read.

Visiting Hours at Coastal State Prison:

Visiting is on Saturdays, Sundays, and State Holidays from 9am-3pm.
