Tyger River Correctional Institution

Tyger River Correctional Institution is a medium security level 2 facility that houses adult males.  The current capacity of this prison is 1,160 inmates.  Offenders are housed in double bunked cells, 173 offenders are triple bunked.  Tyger River Correctional Institution employs inmates in a hardwood flooring factory as part of the prison industries program.  Offenders are also provided on site medical and dental treatment.

Inmates at Tyger River Correctional Institution are encouraged to take vocational training to learn a new skill.  Vocational courses offered at this prison include Heating and Air Conditioning (HVAC), auto body repair, automotive repair, masonry and carpentry.  Additionally, inmates who do not have a diploma can take adult basic education classes, and GED preparation courses.  Select offenders can leave the prison on a supervised work duty to clean garbage from local highways.

Visiting Hours at Tyger River Correctional Institution:

Visits at Tyger River Correctional Institution occur on a rotating schedule according to the first letter of the inmate's last name.  Visitation occurs on Fridays from 4pm-7pm and on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:30am-12pm and from 1pm-5pm.
