Middleton Transfer Facility is a medium custody prison located in Abilene Texas that houses G-1 minimum to G-3 medium security offenders and those classified as transient. Transient offenders are inmates who are either being held while awaiting trial or are temporarily being held at this location while awaiting a more permanent facility assignment.
Michael Unit is a mixed custody prison located in Tennessee Colony Texas and consists of inmates who range from minimum security to maximum custody levels. Currently, the Michael Unit can house up to 2,985 inmates in the main unit and an additional 321 offenders in the Trusty Camp. This facility is situated on over 20,500 acres and is co-located with Powledge, Beto, Coffield, and the Gurney Transfer Unit.
MCConnell Unit is a maximum security prison located in Beeville Texas, part of Bee County. The facility houses up to 2,900 male offenders of varying custody levels which range from minimum (G1) to maximum (G5) security. McConnell Unit was named after the former police chief of the town of Beeville, William McConnell.
Marlin Transfer Unit, sometimes referred to as Marlin Unit, is a prison located in Falls County Texas that is primarily used for housing transient offenders. Transient offenders are housed in this location for short periods of time until they are transferred to a permanent facility. Marlin Transfer Facility is currently a female unit, but has in the past housed males and youth offenders.
The James Lynaugh Unit is a mixed custody prison located in Fort Stockton Texas, part of Pecos County. The facility houses up to 1,416 male minimum to medium custody offenders on over 1,300 acres of remote land. Offenders incarcerated at the Lynaugh Unit are provided off site medical, dental and mental health services.
Lychner State Jail is a mixed custody institution located in Humble Texas, part of Harris County. The facility derives it's name from a victim's rights activist named Pam Lychner who passed away in the TWA flight 800 crash. Pam Lychner was on board the plane with her two daughters. Today the facility which was once named Atascocita Stata Jail, now bears her name.
Luther Unit is a medium security prison located in Navasota Texas, part of Grimes County. The facility is a mixed custody (G1, G2, and G3) institution that houses approximately 1,326 male inmates, 1,102 of which reside in the unit, the additional 214 offenders are housed in the Trusty Camp. The facility is situated on 7,003 acres of land it shares with Pack Unit.
Lopez State Jail is located on three hundred acres in Edinburg Texas. The facility has a maximum capacity of 1,100 male offenders. The inmates at Lopez State Jail range from J1 minimum custody to J5 maximum custody. Additionally, this facility houses minimum custody state prisoners and transient offenders.
Lockhart Correctional Facility is a minimum security prison located in Caldwell County. It serves as a Prison Industry Enhancement (PIE) program, and is also known as the Lockhart Work Program. Lockhart is a co-gender facility that houses up to 500 males, and 500 females. As a designated PIE facility, Lockhart provides many work opportunities, educational and vocational programs to offenders.
Lindsey State Jail is a privately run facility (operated by Corrections Corporation of America CCA) that houses inmates awaiting trial, offenders who have just been arrested, transient offenders, and minimum security prisoners. Lindsey State Jail is situated on 64 acres and houses a maximum of 1,031 male inmates.
