The Diagnostic and Evaluation Center is located in Lincoln Nebraska. It is considered a maximum custody facility because it is responsible for the reception, evaluation, assessment and classification of all adult males in the state.
Community Corrections Center Omaha is a community custody A and B status facility that houses inmates who are close to the end of their prison term, and nearing release. This facility is self contained, but shares services with Omaha Correctional Center which is located adjacent to the facility.
Often times when a person goes to prison their relationships with friends and family members suffer. Studies have shown one of the most important aspects to an inmate's rehabilitation is maintaining these personal relationships. One of the main problems the department of corrections faces, is how to encourage people to visit an inmate when they often feel discouraged and overwhelmed by the process.
Inmates incarcerated in Nebraska are allowed to send mail to anyone with the exception of other inmates, and victims. An inmate may also receive mail from anyone. All incoming mail is opened, may be read, and inspected for contraband with the exception of privileged/legal mail, which may still be opened and inspected in the presence of the inmate, but not read. Inmates who are not indigent must purchase pre-stamped envelopes from the canteen, they are allowed up to 40 pre-stamped envelopes in their possession.
The Community Corrections Center in Lincoln Nebraska is a minimum custody work release center for both male and female inmates. Currently Community Corrections Center Lincoln has a capacity of 88 females and 312 males. The facility itself is comprised of four housing units, three of which are male units, one is a female unit.
Riverside Youth Correctional Facility is located in Boulder Montana. It is juvenile detention facility for over twenty youthful females (aged 10-17). Inmates are provided substance abuse treatment and required to attend eight hours of schooling every weekday, all year round. Offenders can obtain a diploma while incarcerated here.
Pine Hills Youth Correctional Facility is located in Miles City Montana. It is the only long term correctional facility for juveniles (ages 10-17). Offenders at this facility have 16 hours of scheduled activities each day starting at 6:15 every morning. Treatments are individually tailored to suit the inmates needs.
Montana Women's Prison is located in Billings Montana. It is a mixed custody prison that houses 190 female inmates who have been convicted of felonies.
Montana State Prison is located in Deer Lodge Montana. The prison can house up to 1,495 adult male inmates. This facility is responsible for six custody levels, minimum I, minimum II, medium I, medium II, maximum and closed custody. Offenders are housed in one of three compounds depending on their security level. Inmates are secured by two fences and a large wall with razor wire.
Dawson County Correctional Facility is located in Glendive Montana. It is a mixed custody prison that can house up to 144 male inmates. Selected inmates at this facility work jobs within the institution providing vital services in laundry, janitorial maintenance, and cafeteria work.
