Colorado State Penitentiary is located in Canon City and is one of the facilities that makes up the East Canon Complex.  This facility can house up to 750 offenders who are mostly closed custody inmates.  This facility uses incentive programs to modify inmate behavior.

Centennial Correctional Facility is located in Canon City Colorado and is part of the East Canon Complex.  The facility is made up of varying custody levels and can house up to 320 inmates.  This correctional facility uses incentives to try and modify the behavior of offenders who are typically difficult to manage.

The Colorado Correctional Center is located in Golden Colorado, and also goes by the name Camp George West.  This facility is part of the Denver Correctional Complex.  It is a level I facility which means it houses minimum security offenders only.  It can house up to 150 inmates in a work camp setting.

Buena Vista Correctional Complex is located in Buena Vista Colorado and consists of two facilities.  The correctional facility referred to as BVCF is responsible for housing inmates in medium custody.  The minimum center, which is often referred to as BVMC, is responsible for housing minimum security offenders who will soon be released from custody.

Colorado inmates can receive letters from anyone, as long as the return address is legible and the letter does not contain any maps, plans to escape or commit a crime.  All mail including letters will be opened, inspected and read (excluding privileged mail, such as legal mail, which can still be opened and inspected in the presence of the inmate).  The letters should not contain staples, paper clips, or any embellishments such as glitter, glue, stickers, marker, lipstick etc.

Arrowhead Correctional Center is located in Cañon City Colorado.  It is part of the East Canon Correctional complex.  This facility is considered a minimum security institution and contains minimum custody and below inmates.  The current capacity of this prison is approximately 520 inmates.

Wasco State Prison is a correctional facility located in Wasco California.  It serves as a reception center which intakes, classifies, and diagnosis inmates.  Once the intake process is completed the inmates are given their appropriate institution that they will serve their time in.  Many of the inmates housed at Wasco are their for a short period of time.

Valley State Prison is located in Chowchilla California, and at one time served as an all female prison, in 2013 it officially reopened as an all male facility.  The facility now houses Level II medium security inmates and also serves as a re-entry facility which prepares inmates for their reintegration to society.
