If an inmate is transferred to a new facility or released will have their mail forwarded for a period of 30 days. All inmates can send outgoing mail.

Winfield Correctional Facility has many programs geared towards preparing an inmate for release, including vocational courses through Aramark and educational courses that help inmates earn a GED.
Topeka Correctional Facility is located in Shawnee County Kansas. It is a state prison that houses women. Due to the fact that it is the only facility in the state that houses females, it also has all custody levels of inmates from maximum to minimum/work release. It currently is at capacity housing over 764 adult females.
Norton Correctional Facility is located in Norton County Kansas. The prison can house about 835 adult males from medium to minimum custody. This facility also operates a satellite unit at Stockton which can house 128 minimum custody offenders.
Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility is located in Pawnee County Kansas. This prison specializes in mental health treatment of offenders and houses maximum to minimum security inmates who suffer from severe and persistent mental illness.
Lansing Correctional Facility is located in Leavenworth County Kansas. It is the largest and oldest prison in the state with the ability to house over 2,445 adult males. The prison itself is comprised of a Central Unit which houses maximum and medium security inmates, and the East Unit which houses minimum security offenders.
Hutchinson Correctional Facility is located in Reno County Kansas. This prison can house approximately 1,800 adult males. Inmates at this facility can be minimum, medium, maximum and special management custody levels. All inmates are housed in the main compound except for the minimum security unit which is located just outside of the walled facility.
